The technical challenge of menstrual swimwear

One of the persistent myths about menstrual swimwear is that absorbent fabrics can tell the difference between blood and water. In fact, there is no fabric that can do this. Absorption works well in dry or barely damp environments, but once underwater, an absorbent fabric will pick up pool or sea water as well as menstrual fluids.

It's this reality that has prompted many brands to reinvent their approach, using technologies adapted for multi-purpose use: usable during menstruation as well as outside. This is where PixSea enters the scene, an innovative brand with whom we had the pleasure of collaborating to develop its new-generation menstrual swimsuit.

PixSea has met this challenge with a removable pad system, made from a fabric with unique properties. The pad is the key to an effective, comfortable swimsuit that can be worn in any situation, with or without internal protection.

This removable system allows users to adjust their swimsuit to suit their needs. During their period, they can insert the absorbent pad, and outside this period, they can remove it to enjoy a classic, comfortable swimsuit. A real game-changer in the world of menstrual swimwear!
